Product Info

Tanzania Peaberry is a full bodied coffee with a chocolatey aroma and a wine-like finish. The Peaberry connotation indicates that only 1 bean grows inside of the coffee cherry instead of 2, giving it the opportunity to absorb all of the nutrients that it would normally have to share. This also gives it a round shape. Some connoisseurs will swear that the peaberry mutation results in a higher quality coffee, and we think it's definitely worth a try.

  • Altitude: 1400-1800 meters above sea level
  • Harvest: July - August
  • Processing: Washed, Sun Dried
  • Aroma: Tobacco
  • Flavour: Citrus (Lemon), Berry (Blackberry), Spice/Tobacco/Tea notes
  • Body: Medium
  • Acidity: Very Bright, Citric

Tanzania Peaberry Coffee beans are grown in the same eastern region as other well reputed African coffees like the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and Sidamo, as well as Kenya AA and Uganda Okoro.

Love these beans, they have a very defined and smooth taste. Great brands for an afternoon pot of coffee. Definitely recommend you to give them a try you will not be sorry you did!

I first had this coffee years ago from another company in the United States. I fell in love with it. It's probably one of the best. Overall coffees that I've ever had. I love peaberries and their flavor and texture. I love the lightness of this coffee and how it works with whatever I have for breakfast.

I 've tried over ten different beans including all 3 roasts. Some were too mild others too bitter. The Tanzanian Peaberry expresso roast has the best combination of flavor and smoothness. My wife and I enjoy it everyday for breakfast.

First time trying the Peaberry. Beautifully roasted. Mellow taste and strong/heavy body. Perfect for a everyday morning coffee and excellent with chocolate and vanilla ice cream! I would introduce this coffee to anyone without any hesitation.

Such a lovely fresh smell when I opened the bag. These beans are rather tiny but filled with flavour. This is my favorite coffee that I have tried. Rich and smooth. Perfect

I love this coffee! It smelled fabulous when I opened the package and my husband and I both love the taste. The only reason I did't give it a 5 is that every time I drink only this coffee for a day I get a headache, I wonder if the amount of caffeine differs from regular coffee beans.

By far my favorite choice from this merchant. Slightly acidic, yet mellow. Not overpowering at all. A must purchase for first time ordering.

This bean was too light for a bold coffee drinker. That said, I think it would be a pleasing bean for those who prefer milder cup of coffee.

My review is based on medium roast full beans. I make medium to fine grinds and brew the coffee with a drip machine. This Tanznia Peaberry is very pleasant and pretty well balanced. I bought Kenya AA and this at once and compared them cup by cup. I have to say both Kenya AA and Tanzania Peaberry are very pleasant, and their tastes are pretty close. There are subtle differences which I list below: (1) Both have vivid acidity, but Tanzania Peaberry is a little less acid; (2) Both are medium-bodied, but Tanzania Peaberry has a little heavier body than Kenya AA; (3) Tanzania Peaberry is a tiny more bitter than Kenya AA; (4) Very subtle difference in aroma. Overall, I'll say Tanzania Peaberry is a little more balanced than Kenya AA, but Kenya AA has a more distinct characteristic because of its brighter acidity. I personally prefer Kenya AA a little for its acidity, but will definitely recommend Tanzania Peaberry to all medium-roast lovers.

Peaberry is around 5% of the harvest so its a rare opportunity to reach a uniform roast to get the best of this coffee.

The beans look quite small. Taste flat with auto drip but not recommended for espresso.

I am a coffee lover and I had Tanzanian coffee before and I must say it had a fuller taste then the Peaberry. It did not quite meet my expectations in taste and strength.

Excellent, well roasted, dark, oily beans. I ordered medium roast but next time I will try a bag of dark roast as well. I find that peaberry is pretty well-balanced but I prefer the richness that a darker roast seems to bring out.

I was very surprised when I opened up the package, the beans were smaller...pea sized ;), and much more oily. In fact, I thought I might be able to fill up my lawn mowers oil tank with the all the oil (type: espresso roast). Great smell, first couple of shots are always the adventure dialing in the bean, for how I seem to be able to pull a decent shot with this. Not as much aftertaste flavour as the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, but more flavour then say the Silver Espresso (both available from buycoffeecanada.com) - however the crema produced by the Silver Espresso still trumps any that I have purchased from this site. So if you want a lot of creama - this bean may not be right for you. With that being said, there is a definite aroma to the shot, and it is complemented by a smooth shot - likely from all the oil.

Purchased the coffee in medium roast. Very smooth and mellow. Perfect for that first coffee of the morning. Mild chocolate taste, I don't know about a wine finish though...
